Kano: Thugs snatch ballot boxes

THE Kano State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Umar Dan- Yahaya, has said some ballot boxes were snatched during the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the state.

Disclosing this while speaking on the gubernatorial election, Alhaji Yahaya said there were adequate provisions of election materials to all the polling booths across the state.

He, however, did not confirm the actual number of stolen ballot boxes.

Alhaji  Yahaya also said the security operatives in the state had arrested some suspects in connection to the ballot boxes  snatching .

The INEC boss said security was beefed up in the affected areas, as well as other flash points in the state to avert crisis and stop electoral malpractices.
