Epe
Two men were arrested at a polling booth in Epe General Hospital for ballot box snatching. The case is being investigated and the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State command, Mr Solomon Abah, promised to look into the case, adding that the case would be referred to the highest police panel.

INEC office
There was low turnout of voters at the two polling centres near the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) headquarters at Birrel Street in Sabo, Yaba compared to last week’s presidential election.

Free soft drinks were  given to voters on the queue.The gesture was  said to be an appreciation  of their decision to wait in the sun.

Ikotun
At unit 053 in Gafaru Street, Ikotun, a local government chairman in the area doled out cash to party agents, who, in turn, procured bags of sachet water for voters.

He also gave five groups of street boys N10, 000 each, but a fight broke out among them following allegation that one of the leaders had shortchanged the amount by N2,000.

Ibeju Lekki
A group of thugs swooped on the polling booth in unit 2 in Oremedu in Ibeju Lekki in an attempt to snatch the ballot box at 2.00p.m.  They would have overpowered the polling officials but for the vigilance of voters who surged forward and threatened a showdown.

The uproar attracted policemen patrolling the area, who immediately dashed to the spot. But the hoodlums escaped without taking away the ballot box.

Ikorodu
There was an appreciable presence of military personnel in Ikorodu. Some youths played football on the streets which were almost deserted during the election.

Apapa
Security was tight, but unlike previous elections, there was low turnout of voters in most of the units. Naval personnel and other security personnel were on surveillance.

Oke-Ira, Ogba
The scorching heat sent many voters looking for shelter in front of  homes and shops near the polling booths. There was calm, though security operatives carried out routine patrol of the streets.

There was massive turnout of voters and INEC officials found it difficult to control the crowd before accreditation.  

Ijaiye Ojoroko/Ahmadiyyah
Accreditation at the various polling units within the Ijaiye-Ojokoro LCDA in Lagos commenced earlier than the scheduled 8.00a.m., as polling officials arrived at 7.30a.m. At polling unit 042 and 043 visited by our correspondent, voter turnout was large, leading to a long queue for voter accreditation.

Some of the voters, who spoke with our correspondent, said they were out to guide against allowing Lagos State to fall into wrong hands. But the turnout in Ahmadiyyah was relatively low. Voters started  trickling out for accreditation from 9.00a.m.  

Ketu
In Elegbinju in Ketu, off Demurin street, some party agents gave a packet of matches, one pack of spaghetti and an exercise book to a prospective voter, with a plea to vote for a particular candidate and his party.

Ikeja, Alausa
Accreditation of voters in the Alausa axis of Ikeja commenced on time, with voters coming out en-masse for the exercise.  The presence of security personnel, especially men of the Lagos State Police command was noticeable at the various polling units. The exercise as witnessed by our correspondent, was peaceful.
