Oyo Gov-elect, Ajimobi, debunks claim of dual citizenship
Headlines, Oyo, State News Thursday, May 19th, 2011Oyo State governor-elect, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday, debunked the claim that he has dual citizenship, describing it as mischievous and unfounded.
Ajimobi, in a statement signed by his Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Yanju Adegbite, denied ever being a dual citizen of Nigeria and the United States of America.
According to him, the allegation of dual citizenship against him was unfounded, mischievous, baseless and borne out of the reluctance of the petitioners to accept their loss at the gubernatorial election.
He urged the people of the state not to be apprehensive or lose any sleep over the petition.
Ajimobi said the issue of his purported dual citizenship would be duly addressed at the election petition tribunal and Nigerians would get to know that the petitioners were only desperate to upturn their rejection at the polls by the people of the state.
”It shows the level of ignorance, mischief and desperation of the losers,” he stressed.
