4 dead as dock workers attack Police post

At least four persons, including a Divisional Police Officer and an Assistant Superintendent of Police, were feared dead, yesterday, after some workers suspected to be from Niger Dock attacked a Police post on Snake Island, shooting sporadically.

The workers it was gathered, were protesting the death of three of their colleagues  in the hands of a policeman.

Vanguard gathered that trouble started after a Police Inspector simply identified as Ojo, stormed Niger Dock to effect the arrest of one of the workers. His attempt, however, met with stiff resistance as some of the workers reportedly held the policeman hostage and in the process of  struggling his riffle went off and brought three of the workers down.

However, the Police said those affected did not die.
