Abuja Bomb Blast: Service Chiefs asked to resign
Abuja (FCT) Sunday, January 2nd, 2011WORRIED by the series of bomb blasts in the country, the African Renaissance Party, has called on service chiefs to promptly resign from their various positions.
The ARP expressed shock at the lackadaisical attitude of security agencies on the bomb blasts that had claimed the lives of many Nigerians.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Jackson Omenazu, made the call in a telephone interview on Sunday in Port Harcourt.
Omenazu told our correspondent on the phone that all the service chiefs had the constitutional responsibility to ensure the security of lives and property in the country, but had failed to nip the security challenge in the bud.
He pointed out that the failure of security operatives to arrest the culprits behind the series of bomb blasts in the past had made it imperative for those involved in the act to continue unabated.
He said, “The ARP is calling on the service chiefs in the Army, the Navy, the Airforce, the Director of the State Security Service and the Inspector-General of Police to resign immediately for their failure to nip the cases of bomb blasts in the bud.
“They are constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of securing lives and property in the country. Having failed to discharge their responsibility creditably, the best option is for them to voluntarily resign.”wp_posts
