Governor Amaechi (L) of Rivers State and Nigeria’s First Lady Mrs Goodluck Jonathan
Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State stated this Friday at an interactive secession with Journalists in Port Harcourt.
He also said his stand to fight for the resources of the Rivers people made him to be on war path with President Jonathan accusing him of ceding some of the Rivers state oil wells to his home state, Bayelsa state.
“I am telling you why they want to crucify me. This fight is about change. It is about good governance. It is about accountability.
“They do not like Rivers State. They hate us. We are losing. Tell me one thing that Rivers State has gained from being part of the South South under Goodluck Jonathan’s Presidency.” He asked.
The governor further said that the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has failed even as he argued that All Progressive Congress (APC) remains the credible alternative to the ruling party.
The governor, who is also the chairman of the governors forum, added that by next year many more governors, Senators and members of the House of Representatives will dump the PDP and join the APC.
He said: “Watch out before March if we (APC member) don’t have the numbers that we are looking for” both at the national assembly and the governors forum.
Our correspondent reports that the presidency is believed to be fueling the Rivers State crisis through the minister of education, Mr Wike Nyesome and the police commissioner MT Mbu, both of whom have feared well in energizing the crisis.wp_posts
