Alleged $15m bribe: Ibori blasts Ribadu 2
Delta, EFCC Politics, Headlines, State News Tuesday, December 8th, 2015By Akeeb Alarape
Convicted former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has hit back at former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as a liar.
Ibori, who is serving term in the United Kingdom was reacting to recent online publications, where Ribadu reiterated his earlier stance that Ibori bribed him US$15million to stop his investigation.
A statement from Ibori’s media office and signed by Mr. Tony Eluemunor, denounced Ribadu’s claim, saying it was ‘horrible, revolting, nasty and totally false.’
Eluemunor said Ribadu’s recent outburst may not be unconnected with the decision of the Senate to probe into the “mismanagement and criminal diversion of funds from the sale of confiscated properties into personal pockets.’
“Ribadu may have a need to attempt to burnish his image, fearing the investigations may ask questions about events during his tenure. But he should be told that lying, against even an enemy, just to gain some unearned applause and perhaps fence off some approaching investigation must have a limit,” the statement said.
