Army headquarters effect major shake-up
Armed Forces, Latest Politics Thursday, August 25th, 2011The Nigerian Army has carried out a major shake-up involving over 30 senior officers from the rank of Colonel to Major- General.
The changes are coming on the heels of the first anniversary of the current service chiefs on September 8, 2011.
Those affected in the new postings in the top echelon of the army are the Director of Military Intelligence (DMI), Major-General Y. Audu, who becomes the new Chief of Defence Intelligence (CDI) while the former CDI, Major-General Babagana Mongunu, becomes the new Chief of Logistics, defence headquarters.
Others are the GOC 3 Division Jos, Major-General Sunday Idoko, who becomes the new GOC 82 Division Enugu, while former GOC of 82 Division, Major-General Sarki Yaki Bello moves to the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). Major-General A.B Marwa moves to 3 Division Jos as GOC.
Also affected is the Registrar of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna, Brigadier-General A.T. Jubrin, who becomes the new Director of Military Intelligence (DMI).
The army signal also indicated that some Major-Generals had been served their notice of retirement with effect from August 31, 2011.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that more retirement notices will soon be served to some senior officers who had either served for 35 years or are up to 56 years of age.
