The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Sunday said that it could not readily determine when the ace actor and comedian, Mr. Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, would be released from its custody.
Baba Suwe was arrested on Wednesday at the Murtala Muhammed International Lagos when he was about boarding an Air France plane to Paris.
Spokesman for the agency, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, told our correspondent on Sunday that the Nollywood star would be released when the agency had “concluded its investigation.”
“We can not tell specifically now when he will be released. But as soon as we conclude our investigations and nothing is found in his system, he will be allowed to go.”
Omodina had made two excretions since his arrest but there were no traces of drugs in them, according to the anti-narcotics agency.
Ofoyeju said narcotics investigators were looking forward to analysing Baba Suwe’s “third excretion.”
Omidina made the first and second excretions on Friday and Saturday. As at 8pm on Sunday, the ace comedian was yet to make his third excretion.
Baba Suwe allegedly tested positive to drug ingestion and was placed under observation.
NDLEA Airport Commander, Alhaji Hamza Umar, said Baba Suwe was in safe custody.
