Balarabe Musa picks Kaduna PRP gov ticket
Kaduna, State News Thursday, January 13th, 2011
Thirty years after his impeachment as the civilian governor of the old Kaduna State, the National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party and Chairman of the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, Alhaji Balarabe Musa on Wednesday picked the governorship ticket of the PRP in the state.
With this development, Musa, 75 is expected to slug it out with the incumbent Governor of Kaduna State, Mr. Patrick Yakowa, who only last Sunday defeated other aspirants to emerge as the flagbearer of the ruling People’s Democratic Party in the April poll in the state.
Musa was declared the winner of the PRP governorship ticket for the 2011 poll after delegates from the 23 local government areas of the state unanimously proclaimed him the party’s flagbearer at the party primaries held inside the indoor sports hall of the Murtala Square, Kaduna.
The CNPP chairman was the only governorship aspirant that contested for the PRP governorship ticket at the party primaries.
Other PRP chieftains and delegates from the other parts of the country also attended the party primaries to give Musa moral support.
In his acceptance speech, Musa explained that he was staging a come-back 30 years after he left the reins of governance to rescue the people of the state from the current level of poverty and hunger which he said was caused by lack of good governance and high level of corruption.
He said, “Age is no barrier to enthroning good governance and saving the population from the present history of poor leadership. At the age of 75, I feel I can contribute better to the growth of Kaduna state than ever before.wp_posts
