Bauchi assembly passed 54 bills in 3 years
Bauchi, State News Wednesday, December 29th, 2010The Bauchi State House of Assembly passed 54 bills out of the 73 it received between June 2007 and October 2010, the Speaker, Alhaji Abubakar Faggo, said on Tuesday.
Faggo, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi, said 19 out of the 73 bills were still pending before the assembly.
According to him, the 19 bills would soon be passed into law after deliberations.
Faggo said 56 motions were raised by members during the period with 30 adopted, 23 pending and three rejected.
He said 72 matters of urgent public importance (UPI), especially those concerning various constituencies, were raised by lawmakers while 50 of them were adopted.
Faggo said 20 of such matters were still pending before the assembly while nine of them were rejected due to various reasons.
He said 85 reports were submitted by various committees of the assembly with 68 adopted, eight pending while nine were still under review.
The speaker said the assembly received 32 petitions from individuals and groups, noting that most of them were referred to various committees.
He also said the assembly received 33 correspondences from Governor Isa Yuguda, seeking permission or notification from the lawmakers either to travel or undertake annual leave.wp_posts
