Bayelsa governorship poll: Too close to call

The results of yesterday’s governorship election in Bayelsa State so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) show that candidates of the two leading political parties, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his counterpart in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timpre Sylva, are running neck and neck.

While Dickson is coasting home to victory in Sagbama, Sylva is ahead in Brass. Also, the acting chairman of the PDP, Chief Serenade Dokubo- Spiff, lost his ward in Brass to the APC. The deputy majority leader in the House of Assembly, Hon Tonye Isenah also lost in his ward. Similarly, the Organising Secretary of the APC in the state, Hon Tonye Okio, failed to make appreciable showing in his community, Otuopkoti, Ogbia Local Government Area.
