Boko Haram: Police beef up security in 7 states
Bauchi, Borno, Kano, Latest Politics, Niger, Plateau, State News Wednesday, May 11th, 2011ABUJA-TO thwart any possible attack by the Boko Haram sect, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, has beefed up security in about seven states including Borno, Bauchi, Kaduna, Niger, Plateau and Kano.
Ringim, also said yesterday that the post-election violence which engulfed parts of the country could not have been avoided.
Fielding questions from newsmen at the post-election debriefing of DIGs, AIGs and Commissioners of Police at the force headquarters, Ringim explained that the tactics of massively deploying police personnel for the conduct of the elections which resulted in its success will be replicated in dealing with the Boko Haram problem.
Ringim stated that the violence which led to the killing of nine NYSC members was spontaneous hence could not have been prevented.
He, however, pointed out that the swift response by security agencies was what matters under such circumstances as incidents like that occur over of the world.
Ringim added that police personnel were part of the society and deserved to be encouraged when they perform creditably.
