Borno PDP women reject nomination of Inna Ciroma
Borno, Party Politics, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), State News, Women Politics Thursday, May 19th, 2011WOMEN in the Borno State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rejected the nomination of Hajia Inna Ciroma for a ministerial position by the state chapter of the party.
Rising from an emergency meeting held at the PDP state secretariat in Maiduguri, on Wednesday, the women stakeholders rejected the nomination of Ciroma, the national women leader of the party; Honour-able Fanta Baba Shehu, former member of the House of Representives and Hajia Hauwa Ahmed, adding that both Ciroma and Shehu did not assist the women in the state while they held political offices.
Also Hajia Ahmed, the stakeholders said, was a new entrant in the party, who had not made any impact at the state level.
The stakeholders condemned the manner with which their male counterparts used and dumped them after elections, adding that in an ideal democratic setting, they should be the ones to present the women nominees.
Speaking through Hajia Hauwa Hassan Kida, the women said the state could boast of qualified women whose experience matched others and should, therefore, not be recycling the current political appointees.wp_posts
