Confusion in A’ Ibom as Akpabio visits Umana

Uncertainty reigned yesterday in Akwa Ibom State as Governor Godswill Akpabio visited the home of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Umana Okon Umana’s office.

As at the time of filing this report, Akpabio was in Umana’s private residence in Ewet Housing Estate, thus heightening the speculation that Umana may return to office if he so wishes.

But the SSG’s office remained locked and heavily guarded by armed security men, even as officials of government incharge of information on such issues have kept sealed lips leaving rooms for speculations and allegations.

The belief that Umana might return to office was further reinforced when the state Deputy Director, Directorate of State Security, Mr. Fubra Duke told Daily Sun that the security agents did not locked out the SSG, but had responded to a request by the state government that some directors and permanent secretaries in the SSG’s office were to be deployed.

“Since the SSG’s office is the engine room of government, we had to move in and safeguard the property of government especially as he (SSG) was not around.

“We never sealed his office, rather it was the secretary to the SSG who locked the office. We only ensured that nothing happened to government properties.”
