Delta hands over Asaba Airport to concessionaire

By Monday Osayande, Asaba The Delta State Government, yesterday, formally handed over the Asaba International Airport to the management of Asaba Airport Company, which emerged winner on February 23, 2021 in a competitive bidding process. Performing the ceremony on behalf of the state government, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Patrick Ukah, said the transition period, which began on February 23, had ended following the formal hand over of the airport to the concessionaire. Ukah disclosed that having performed the ceremony, the state government had officially withdrawn from its management for the Asaba Airport Company. Responding after receiving documents of the agreement to the company, Chairman of the company, Adebisi Adebutu, commended the state government for the success and transparency of the concession process. Adebutu noted that the six months transition period, which began on February 23 this year, was a fantastic period for the company to understand the peculiarities of the airport, adding that the period also allowed a seamless transition. |
