Security operatives in Delta State have launched a massive hunt for suspects who allegedly raped three female corps members in Owodokplor Igbide community, Isoko South local government area of the state.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY learnt that the six-man gang allegedly descended on the corps members who were serving as teachers at the school’s Corpers’ Lodge.
Our informed source said that three out of the six suspects have been apprehended and are being questioned by the police over the incident which rocked the entire Isoko South community.

The corps members were attacked by the suspected rapists around 9pm last Friday. After the act, they also dispossessed them of their handsets and other belongings.
LEADERSHIP SUNDAY checks revealed that the corps members were dragged into a nearby bush by the rapists after they had shot sporadically.

ASP Charles Muka, Police spokesman in the state, confirmed that the fleeing suspects were still being looked for, adding that the ones arrested made useful statements which would lead to the arrest of those still at large.

Meanwhile, the headless body of a suspected victim of ritualists found along Asaba-Illah road, by Anwai River Bridge, yesterday caused a stir.
Only recently, a native soap trader (names withheld) said to be from western Nigeria was shot dead by suspected armed robbers who reportedly laid a siege along the road against traders going to Ebu and Illah Eke market.

LEADERSHIP SUNDAY gathered that the latest victim, a man whose identity was unknown but supposedly in his early 30s, was discovered by sympathisers in the early hours of yesterday lying in a pool of his blood. His head was missing.

Expectedly, the sight threw students of the Delta State University, Anwail campus, into mourning laced with shock as the inability of the sympathizers to identify the victim worsened the situation.

ASP Charles Muka, police spokesman in the state, confirmed that security operatives at the command had been assigned to investigate the mystery surrounding the death of the young man, adding that everything possible would be done to unearth the dastardly act.

Meanwhile, robbery operations along the Asaba-Illah road, by Ugbodu, near Modern Missionary School, has claimed the life of a trader, leaving a driver in a critical condition. The victims were attacked by armed robbers while they were going to Ebu and Illah Eke market.

It was learnt that the woman, who used to sell native black soap in Ebu and Illah markets, was hit by bullets when the bandits opened fire at their moving car. She gave up the ghost on the spot.
ASP Muka however confirmed that the situation in the area would be brought under control with a patrol team sent to help residents.
