Dr. Chike Akunyili, husband of late Prof. Dora Akunyili shot dead in Anambra
Anambra, Headlines, State News Wednesday, September 29th, 2021Armed men have reportedly killed Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband of late Ex- Nigeria’s Minister of information Prof. Dora Akunyili, in Anambra state, South East Nigeria.
It was gathered that Dr Akunyili, who was the Chief Medical Director of the popular St. Leo hospital Enugu, was murdered at Umuoji in Idemili Council area of Anambra State Tuesday night.
As at the time of filing this report the police in the state were yet to make any statement on the tragic development.
The late Akunyili, had gone to the University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA) Onitsha branch where his late wife, Dora was honoured some hours before he was murdered in a cold blood.
The event took place Tuesday at Sharon Hall, All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha, and was a University of Nigeria Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA), Onitsha branch ceremony where they honoured late DG of NAFDAC Dora Akunyili.
The late Dr. Akunyili, who was said to have spoken glowingly about his late wife, also made a donation of 500 thousand naira to the association.
He was accompanied to the event by his son , Mr Obum, a staff of the Anambra state government.wp_posts
