EFCC intensifies move to arrest Babalakin

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have intensified moves to arrest the Chief Executive Officer of Bi-Courtney, Mr. Wale Babalakin.

The commission had summoned Babalakin to appear before it on Thursday and had since put him under surveillance.

It was gathered that the operatives of the commission were at the residence of the Bi-Courtney boss on Thursday.

A source at the EFCC said that the commission had a plan to ensure outright arrest of Babalakin, but for an understanding they had with him that he would present himself to them.

As at Friday, the EFCC had intensified surveillance around the Bi-Courtney boss to ensure that he was arrested on sight.

The source said that the move to arrest Babalakin if he did not present himself to the commission was normal since the EFCC had already charged him to court.

When our correspondent contact the spokesperson for the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, the calls placed to his mobile telephone indicated that it was either switched off or in an area outside of network coverage.

The EFCC had brought charges bordering on money laundering against Babalakin at the Lagos High Court on Wednesday.

Charged alongside Babalakin are Alex Okoh, Stabilini Visioni Ltd., Bi-Courtney Ltd., and Henix Nigeria Ltd.

It was, however, learnt that the case has not been assigned to any judge and neither has it been fixed for hearing.
