Former Lagos State governor, Lateef Jakande, Dies
Governors, Headlines, Lagos, NNP News, State News Thursday, February 11th, 2021(NNP) Former Lagos State governor, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, has died. Jakande was the first civilian governor of Nigeria’s smallest (landmass) state at the return to democratic rule in 1979. He was in office until 1983. He later became minister of works in Abacha’s regime. Jakande was a prolific journalist and author. His book titled “The Trial of Obafemi Awolowo” that was published in 1966 was considered one of the best and well written literary works about the sage. The former governor who was educated at King’s College, was 91 years old.
