PRESIDENTIAL spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati, has dismissed an allegation that he has been sacked by President Goodluck Jonathan.

He also denied reports that he had resigned.

Abati was alleged to have been sacked due to his poor handling of the President’s image in the face of growing criticism of his boss over security challenges and fuel subsidy removal. But he said that the rumour was the handiwork of mischief-makers.

Fielding questions from reporters at the weekend, Abati said: “It is not true. I am at my duty post, loyal and faithful. And if it is that I should resign, well it is just their own wishful thinking, okay, which will not happen.”

He added it was unimaginable that he was resigning a few days after he had defended government’s key policies issues in both local and international media, stating that the rumour was the height of absurdity.

He maintained that “some of the people who are opposed to fuel subsidy removal are mischief-makers who will stop at nothing in achieving their aim.”

Abati also debunked claims that the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala had threatened to resign should President Good Jonathan refuse to reverse the removal of subsidy from fuel price.
