I didn’t abandon corps members in Bauchi, says Obi
Anambra, Bauchi, Governors, NYSC (National Youth Service Corp), State News Monday, May 2nd, 2011Anambra Governor Peter Obi has said his administration did not abandon stranded youth corps members from the state during the post-election crises in some parts of the North.
He described the allegation that he abandoned the corps members in Bauchi as baseless.
Obi spoke yesterday in Awka through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Valentine Obienyem. He assured of his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the people.
Obienyem said Obi was responsive and sensitive to the plight of the corps members during the crises.
He said: “When the post-election crises started in some parts of the North, Obi was one of the first governors in the southeast to establish contact with security agencies.
“The governor worked directly with the Director of State Security Service (SSS) and Commissioner of Police on the plight of the corps members in the affected areas.
Obienyem said as Chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum , Obi worked with his counterparts to ensure the safety of the Ndigbo.
