I ’ve forgiven Peter Obi – Umeh
Anambra, Headlines, State News Wednesday, May 15th, 2013National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Victor Umeh, says he has forgiven all the “dissidents that had a hand in the crises that nearly tore the party apart in recent time”.
Umeh stated this in Ogidi, Anambra State during the party’s South-East stakeholders’ meeting.
The APGA chief, who recalled the party’s history and fortune, said he harboured no malice towards anyone, including Governor Peter Obi and his uncle, Chief Sylvester Nwobu-Alor that spearheaded the move to remove him from office.
He however noted that no member of the party, especially those holding public offices would be allowed again to grow bigger than the party.
According to him, Obi committed “political abomination” against the spirit and vision of the founding fathers of the party by sowing seed of discord in the party.
He, therefore, urged every party member to return for the common good.
Umeh said he was willing to work with the party leaders that abandoned him to join the Obi-led faction.
He appealed to the governor and his supporters to return to the party’s mainstream as he had only nine months to leave as governor.
Umeh added, “The governor should leave a good legacy in the party. He should not see himself as the party’s champion or its alter ego. Let us get back together. Let all this confusion stop.
“I refuse to accept or recognise the purported expulsion of anyone, or the removal of any of the elected executives.”
On 2014 governorship poll in Anambra State, Umeh said the crisis in the party would not affect its chances to retain the state.
He said, “We will not relent. We are going to retain the governorship seat. From the massive turnout today, you can see the actual people who staked their all to make Obi governor twice.”
