Jos Bombings Targetted At PDP Congresses – Jang

Plateau state governor Jonah Jang said Friday bombers’ objective was to stop the congresses that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state was planning to conduct.

The governor stated this yesterday while receiving the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, who was on a tour to the state to commiserate with the government and assess the condition of casualties. “I believe that one of the aims of the perpetrators of this act was to stop the congresses here in Plateau State. They have said it. The unfortunate thing is that people think because it is democracy then they have the right to say anything.

“When they made these statements, I was expecting the security to call them to order and warn them. People say all sorts of things and get away with it in this country. People who have been leaders in this nation want to be leaders again and they will start talking of either peaceful change or violent change,” Jang remarked.

Jang said his government had donated N20million worth of hospital consumables and is further making plans to donate food items to the victims.

NEMA Director General, Alhaji Muhammad Sani Sidi, in his opening remarks said he visited to commiserate with the government and people in the state over the deadly incident, evaluate the extent of damage and visit victims of the blast in various hospitals.

According to him, during the tour he visited the Jos University Teaching Hospitals (JUTH), Jan Kwano hospital, as well as the Jos Central Mosque to commiserate with the victims of the blastwp_posts
