Julius Berger agrees to return to Bayelsa

Construction giant, Julius Berger  has accepted to return to Bayelsa State to resume work on some critical projects it abandoned a few years ago at the height of youth militancy in the Niger Delta.

This was the outcome of a meeting between the construction company and the state government Friday in Yenagoa.
While speaking at the meeting, the state Governor, Seriake Dickson said as a follow-up to preliminary discussions both parties have had, the meeting essentially, was to fine-tune all the existing contractual issues between government and the company with a view to getting Julius Berger to go back to site.

Dickson lauded the company for their understanding, adding that he was quite impressed with the score card of  the company presented to him by the state Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

The Governor, who noted that the state wished to continue doing business with the company because of their seriousness and professional attitude to work, assured the company that government would at all times, fulfill its contractual obligations.

In his contribution, the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Lawrence Erudjakpo said before the Julius Berger pulled out of the state, his Ministry has had a cordial working relationship with the company, pointing out that the Ministry would continue working with the company to deliver on the present administration’s promise of bring infrastructural development to the people.

Also speaking, the Divisional Manager of the company in charge of Technical Matters, Mr. Braun Marco thanked the state government for its interest in continuing their business relationship, pointing out that in two weeks the company will re-mobilise to site and continue where they stopped.

The major project being handled by Julius Berger in the state is the Yenagoa-Oporoma road, which is one of the three senatorial roads intended to open up the hinterlands of the state.
