Kwara gov to provide 20,000 jobs in one year
Kwara, State News Sunday, September 18th, 2011Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has stated that the objective behind the State Bridge Empowermment Scheme (KWABES) is to provide permanent and pensionable employment opportunities to 80 per cent of the 28,000 unemployed registered youths in the scheme in his first 365 days.
Speaking at the official launching of KWABES and presentation of employment letters to 2,000 youths in the first phase of the project in Ilorin on Saturday, the governor said the 2000 youths out of the employment data bank gathered across the 16 LGAs of the state had been empowered to commemorate his celebration of 100 days in office.
The governor also said that the scheme would train youths in essential skill acquisition, adding that it would also support youths in the establishment of small and medium scale enterprises through funding, management, marketing etc, with the collaboration of both public and private sectors in the absorption of the youth.
He said part of the objectives was also to capture all unemployed youths on the data bank, adding that the data base will from time to time serve as the source of selection of youths for acquisition of skills, knowledge and other forms of training required for capital development of the youth of the state.
