Lecturer’s husband commits suicide in Ilorin
Headlines, Kwara, State News Wednesday, March 28th, 2012THE University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State, was thrown into mourning on Wednesday as husband of the head of Department of Religious Studies, Professor (Mrs) Oyeronke Olademo, allegedly committed suicide by hanging.
The husband is Mr Olubunmi Olademo.
Nigerian Tribune investigations revealed that the sad development had generated pity and concern in the university community as the institution is currently hosting the 13th edition of the West African Universities Games (WAUG).
It was gathered that the corpse of the deceased was found dangling on a tree at the site of the family’s building at Oke-Odo, Tanke, Ilorin a few kilometres to the university.
A source close to the family said the deceased left a note on the bed that he was going to commit suicide.
Professor Olademo was reported to have informed the F Division Police on Tuesday night that she was searching for her husband.
It was also gathered that four police officers and the wife went in search of the deceased all through Tuesday night.
Their search was made easy on Wednesday when one of the children of the deceased told the police that his father informed him that he was going to the family’s building site at Oke-Odo, Tanke.
A police source said the police search team eventually found the body of the deceased on the tree at the building site at about 7.30 a.m. on Wednesday.
