Maiduguri Blast – Up to 50 Feared Dead

Latest information on Maiduguri bomb blast indicates that no fewer than 30 people lost their lives while twenty vehicles and many roadside tents destroyed.

A police traffic warder, women selling bean cake; many motorists and a popular suya meat seller and four of his boys who were all by the road near a mosque at the GSM village lost their lives.

Credible hospital sources said over 30 dead bodies have been deposited at the State Specialists Hospital.

“As I am talking to you now, emergency workers are attending to some of the people that sustained injuries,” a medical personnel at the hospital said.

The last bomb blast in the heart of Maiduguri city exploded in March, 2013 at One Way, along the Maiduguri Monday Market.

Police commissioner Lawan Tanko said, “My men had counted 17 dead bodies’ minutes after the incident. Five of those injured have been taken to hospital and my men are still working and counting at the scene. I have directed my officers to visit hospitals and make further inquiries,” he said.
