Mark tackles Aregbesola over plot to destabilise Osun
Latest Politics, Legislature, Osun, Senate, State News Tuesday, December 28th, 2010President of the Senate, David Mark, has debunked allegations made by Osun State Govenor, Rauf Aregbesola, that he and others were trying to destabilise the state.
A statement by Mark’s Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, on Tuesday described Aregbesola’s allegation as spurious and unnecessary.
Mark also demanded that the governor issued an unreserved apology for his unguarded statements or would face a legal action.
He said, “We ordinarily should not elevate such idle talk with a response but for the un-abating enquiries from friends, associates and the general public on the allegation.
“Aregbesola was widely reported in the media that prominent Nigerians including Vice-President Namadi Sambo and President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, were involved in the plot to raise N1bn to destabilise his administration.
“We frown at this falsehood and unwarranted attack on the person and office of the President of the Senate. We demand unreserved apology from Aregbesola or we would be left with no option than to seek legal redress.”
Mark said as a statesman, he believed in the rule of law and was committed to the development and improvement in the lives of Nigerians.
He said it was unthinkable and an affront on his person for Aregbesola to link him with issues that did not engender progress or development.wp_posts
