Monarch learns fate on rape case today
Headlines, Osun, State News Monday, May 21st, 2012An Osogbo High Court will on Monday (today) rule on the rape case against the Alowa of Ilowa, Oba Adebukola Alli, who is facing trial for allegation that he raped a female National Youth Service Corps member.
Having heard the submission of the prosecution, Justice Oyejide Falola, will rule on whether or not the monarch has a case to answer on the rape allegation.
The defence counsel had entered a ‘no case submission’ after the prosecution ended its sumbission.
If the court upholds the ‘no case submission’ by the monarch, the case would come to an end.
However, if the court rules that the monarch has a case to answer, he (Alli) will have to call his witnesses and open his defence.
The female NYSC member had accused the monarch of raping her in his Osogbo residence last year.
Alli, who is also being investigated by the Osun State Government for allegation that he rallied public school pupils to protest against his trial, insisted that he was innocent of the allegation.
Thirty-five Ilowa pupils of Ifelodun Grammar School, Kiloru, have been suspended by the state government for participating in the protest.wp_posts
