National Assembly summon: Buhari gives conditions for appearance

ABUJA – Presidency Thursday night gave conditions for the appearance of President Muhammadu Buhari before the National Assembly.
Recall that the National Assembly on Thursday summoned Buhari on issues bothering on the dwindling economy.
When contacted over the summons, the presidency speaking through the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu stated that the president had not been summoned through the established channels of communication.

Shehu told Vanguard that there were formal channels of communication between the presidency and the National Assembly.
He said that the president can only respond to the National Assembly when it utilized the proper means of communication.
“There is a channel of communication between the Presidency and the National Assembly which we utilize. So, if they communicate to us through those channels, then the presidency will reply.
“But as it is now, it remains a newspaper report and newspaper is not a means of communication for the presidency. When they communicate, the presidency will also communicate back”, he said.
