NDLEA Arrests 243 Suspects
Headlines, NDLEA (Anti-Drug Agency) Saturday, February 12th, 2011The NDLEA commander in Sokoto State, Malam Mohammad Idris, said on Thursday that a total of 243 suspects were arrested in 2010.
He further said that 59 of them had already been convicted.
“We have adopted various security strategies leading to the seizure of 194 .57 kg of cannabis, 148.955 Kg of psychotropic substances and 1,920 kg of syrup codeine, “he said.
Idris also said one suspect was arrested in January in Sokoto metropolis for being in possession of 250 kg of Indian hemp.
He said the suspect was a major supplier of Indian hemp in the state, adding that he would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
The NDLEA boss called for more support from residents, saying vital information made available to the agency might lead to the arrest and prosecution of drug dealers(NAN)
