Nigerian lady becomes first African woman to own an European football club

(NNP) A Nigerian lady, Ms. Nneka Ede, is now the new owner of the 108-year old Portuguese Football Club Lusitana Ginasio. With this acquisition, Nneka Ede becomes the first African woman and the second African to own an European football club.
In 2015, a Nigerian businessman, Kunle Soname, purchased Clube Desportivo Feirense, another Portuguese football club. After the purchase, the new excited owner, Ms. Ede, indicated that she wants the club to provide an avenue for young and talented players to develop and advance in their career. The club plays in Campeonato de Portugal, the Portuguese third division.
