Northern emirs meet in Jigawa today (About Education?)
Jigawa, State News Tuesday, April 24th, 2012OVER 40 northern emirs arrived in Dutse, Jigawa State, to attend the meeting of the northern emirs, under the chairmanship of the Sultan of Sokoto and chairman of Islamic Supreme Council, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar.
Report from the state indicted that the meeting was to be declared open by the state governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, immediately after the visiting emirs witnessed the inauguration and official handing over of the guest houses for the emirs today.
The agenda of the meeting was not made known to newsmen at the time of filing this report, but the Nigerian Tribune gathered that the present security challenge facing the region and polio immunisation would be among the issues to be discussed in the meeting.
The Shehu of Borno, Etsu of Nupe, Lamido of Adamawa, Bongo of Jos and emirs of Kano, Zazzau, Daura, Suleja, Gombe, Katsina were among the emirs to participate in the meeting.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the guest houses, which were constructed by the Governor Lamido-led administration, were built for the comfort of the emirs anytime they were in the state capital for official or personal engagement.
