OBJ’ll Be Irrelevant After 2011 Elections – Balogun

The chairman of Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and former  President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo would be absolutely irrelevant in Nigerian politics after the 2011 elections. This was the view of Senator Lekan Balogun, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and leader of a coalition  against  Alao Akala’s second term bid while fielding questions from reporters in Ibadan yesterday.

Balogun who accused Obasanjo of being the brain behind the crisis in the party in the South West, wondered why the former president refused to play the role of an unbiased umpire in the in-fighting crippling the party  in the zone.

He accused  Obasanjo of shifting his  attention to Oyo after losing out in Ogun State and has been imposing candidates on the party members even from outside the state.

Balogun lamented that when Obasanjo failed in his bid to impose his daughter on the people of his state, he found the state chapter of the party as his tool for mischief, stressing that the former President does not behave like a responsible leader.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the war declared against Senator Teslim Folarin, the Senate Leader who was disallowed from taking part in the primaries,, Balogun said that he was confident that PDP has shot itself in the foot because of the imposition of candidates on the party.wp_posts
