(Oil money) Kwankwaso doles out N900m as Ramadan bonus for Kano workers
Kano, State News Sunday, August 28th, 2011The Kano State government has approved about N900 million for payment of Ramadan bonus to civil servants.
Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso disclosed this during Ramadan breakfast with lecturers of universities and other institutions of higher learning in Kano State .
The governor, who was responding to a request to that effect by one of the lecturers, said the approval to pay the bonus popularly known as ‘kudin gero’, was given about three weeks ago.
He then explained that the delay in effecting payment was caused by the process of ascertaining the correct figures and beneficiaries.
He stated that in line with the government’s resolve to pay salaries by the 25th of every month, payment of August salaries had commenced since Wednesday, and assured that every civil servant would get his Ramadan bonus before Sallah break.
He observed that his last administration was the first to introduce special incentives to civil servants, when it introduced special bonuses for teachers.
