Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole
Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, has revealed that 50 per cent of tickets for the Nigeria versus Botswana game on Saturday will not be on sale as they have been purchased by the government for fans across the state.
Oshiomhole, who spoke through a special aide, revealed that the game meant a lot to the state, as it’s the first time in a long while that Edo and indeed, the Old Bendel State, comprising Edo and Delta States will be hosting a grade A international friendly with a son of the soil in charge, in the person of Stephen Okechujwu Keshi.
“It’s a big game and the governor, has said over and again that there was nothing that will prevent the game from helping to re-discover football not only in Edo state but in Nigeria we’re totally committed, the source said.
There were also indications that the Edo FA, in conjunction with the NFF, has pecked tickets prices at N1000 for popular side and N5000 for State Box extension.
“We have only about 40 per cent tickets for sale for the game because the government and people of Edo State have shown that they are in charge of the game and they want the citizens to be part of it,” a source close to Governor Oshiomhole revealed.
Already, the national team is in Benin City and will commence training on the artificial turf of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium on Friday after a famed visit to the Oba’s palace for his royal blessings.
