Over 60 people died in Monday’s terrorists attack on an Abuja-Kaduna train, National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu said on Tuesday.
Tinubu, who spoke at a colloquium organised to mark his 70th birthday had to announce the cancellation of the event in honour of those killed during the train attack.
The former governor, at the Eko Hotel and Suites, venue of the event took to the podium to announce cancellation of the event.
Tinubu said he got information that over 60 people have been killed when terrorists bombed the train on Monday night.
He said the tragedy called for sober reflection and not for celebration.
He said it would not be proper for him as a statesman to be celebrating when such a tragedy had befallen the nation.
“For me to be here celebrating, dancing and enjoying myself, does not speak of me as a senior citizen of this country. I asked that the cleric should to go and pray. this event should not be holding.
“I have consulted with people you see around me here, they have agreed with me, I have subscribed myself to their suggestion that this event be cancelled.
We pray for the souls of those that departed prematurely, we pray that God will help us to win the warn against terrorists and set Nigeria on the right part,” Tinubu said.
