Police nab 14 suspected robbers, kidnappers in Delta
Delta, Nigerian Police, State News Wednesday, September 14th, 2011The Delta State police command has arrested 14 suspects over kidnapping, robbery and murder offences.
Parading the suspects before newsmen in Asaba, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Mamman Tsafe, said eight of the suspects were arrested for kidna-pping, five for robbery and one for murder.
He said items recovered from them included vehi-cles, fire arms and N650,000 cash.
Tsafe said in one of the robbery incidents which occurred at Otor Udu, near Warri, a woman was robbed of a Sports Utility Vehicle by one Chidiebere Sunday and a serving soldier, adding that Sunday was later arrested with the vehicle in Abuja.
The commissioner said three other suspects were involved in a robbery operation at a petrol station, during which a police team succeeded in killing a notorious robber, Nelson Igbei, wanted for the murder of Mr Agboghoroma Williams, a former divisional police officer (DPO) in Obiaruku.
