Police rescue kidnapped Enugu 6yr-old in Warri
Delta, Enugu, Headlines, State News Saturday, June 2nd, 2012The anti-kidnap unit of the Enugu State Police Command has rescued six-year-old Kosi Akilo, who was abducted recently from her parents’ home at River Lane Crescent in GRA, Enugu.
SATURDAY PUNCH learnt that the anti-kidnap unit, led by Superintendent Stephen Osaghae rescued Akilo in the early hours of Friday at Ovwian in Warri, Delta State.
The anti-terrorist unit of the police in Delta State assisted in the operation to free the victim from her captors.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, the rescue of Akilo was made possible by a piece of information received by the security agents. The PPRO said, “During the operation, the suspected leader of the gang, who gave his name as ‘Junior’, was arrested.
“Meanwhile, the state command has intensified investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending suspects involved in the case.
“The state Commissioner of Police has applauded the effort of the security operatives and the cooperation of members of the public on their useful and timely information. He assured them that as they keep giving the command information about crime, such information will always be treated with utmost confidence.
“The little Kosi Akilo has joined her family as she is hale and hearty.”
