Presidential poll: I didn’t take money from Jonathan –Shekarau

The Kano State Governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, has denied the allegation that the sum of N20 billion was given to him by the presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Jonathan Goodluck.

The special assistant (media) to the governor, who was also the presidential candidate of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), Mallam Sule Yau Sule, disclosed this during a press briefing in Kano, adding that there was no iota of truth to the allegation, which was being peddled around through text messages.

According to Sule, the allegation that money exchanged hands between the two presidential candidates was nothing but the handiwork of mischief makers whose interest was to drag the name of Shekarau to the mud.

He recalled that this was not the first time that desperate lies would be invented to soil the governor’s name. He recalled that sometime ago, it was alleged that the governor was backing the third term project of the former president and that the governor had huge bank accounts abroad, all of which had turned out as false.

In particular, Sule noted that the person who was purported as the author of the text information, Alhaji Sule Lamido, had since come out to deny any link with the information. Reminding those behind the rumour that there was indeed Judgment Day in the here after, the governor’s spokesman also noted that no commercial bank would honour a cheque to the tune of N20 billion as suggested by the text message.

He noted that already they were in contact with the various telecommunications networks in the country to get at the original author(s )of the text message.
