RCCG Jesus House Scarborough (Toronto) distributes food, impacts community

In this celebratory season of giving, compassion and love, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus House Scarborough (Toronto) is making a significant difference in the lives of the Scarborough community members through its community outreach initiative.
In its inaugural outreach event last year, it assisted several Scarborough families in need with donations of over five hundred pounds of canned foods items to the Agin Court Community Centre. This year, in an attempt to reach as many families as possible, it is adopting a slightly different approach by throwing its doors open to community members to receive canned food items. The distribution will take place at the church’s premises located at 32 Progress Ave. on December 22, 2012 between 10 am and 11 am.
Speaking to New Nigerian Politics, the Coordinator of the Community Outreach program, Tunji Irelewuyi, aptly summed up the objective of the initiative. “The objective of the program is to reach out to the community by giving away some non-perishable food items donated by members of our Church.”
Speaking further, he underscored the importance of getting involved in the community to demonstrate the love of Christ, the essence of the Christian faith. Quoting from Matthew 25: 40 which says, “… as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me,” Irelewuyi noted that the church is simply fulfilling the biblical injunction of being ‘your brother’s keeper.’
Interested community members are encouraged to be timely as food distribution would begin promptly on schedule.
