Security chiefs due for sacking – Sani

President of the Civil Rights Congress, Mallam Shehu Sani, on Monday in Kaduna said President Goodluck Jonathan should have removed the heads of the nation’s security agencies rather than removing the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mrs. Farida Waziri, from office.
Sani also described the arrest and detention of Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume by the State Security Service as diversionary.
The civil rights activist, in an interview with newsmen, argued that Jonathan should have sacked the heads of the various security agencies in the country for their inability to arrest the worsening security situation.
Sani said, “I also believe that the sacking of Farida Waziri as the EFCC Chairman is diversionary. It does not attract my sympathy or condemnation.
“I believe that if Waziri has any principle, she would have resigned when she discovered that things were not going the way they ought to. But she waited to be sacked because she is part of the establishment.
“However, I believe that it is not Waziri that should have been sacked. In view of the security situation in the country today and the failure of the security agents to bring things under control, the President should have sacked the service chiefs and not the anti corruption chief.”
