Security in the North: Sambo visits IBB, seeks his support
Ibrahim Babangida (1985-93), Presidency Sunday, December 11th, 2011Vice-President Mohammed Namadi Sambo yesterday paid a visit to former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, at his Uphill mansion in Minna, Niger State. The number two citizen who arrived IBB’s place at exactly 12:30pm was received by his host after which the duo and a few other confidants entered into a closed-door discussion.
Sources disclosed to Daily Sun that the discussions were not unconnected with the issue of security in the North and other national topical issues. As early as 7:00am yesterday, security operatives were strategically positioned to ensure adequate security for the visiting Vice President.
Deputy Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Ahmed Musa Ibeto and other top functionaries of the Niger State government received the Vice President at the Minna International Airport and accompanied him to Babangida’s house.
Sambo, the source said, had earlier felicitated with the former leader on his return to the country after medical trip to Germany.
Journalists who got wind of the visit had earlier mobilized at the entrance to the home of the former first family as early as 8:30am were however barred from covering the event on the instruction of the Vice President.
