Seven passengers kidnapped from bus in Rivers State
Headlines, Rivers, State News Saturday, June 17th, 2017Seven passengers have been abducted from a commercial bus traveling on a highway in Rivers State, the police have said.
The incident was said to have taken place Wednesday evening along Omoku-Elele Road. The bus was coming from Omoku to Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The police spokesperson in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, told PREMIUM TIMES, Friday morning, that the passengers were yet to be rescued.
Mr. Omoni said the police had recovered the bus. He said the passengers may have been taken inside a bush by their abductors.
The passengers’ manifest is with the police, Mr. Omoni said.
“They (the abductors) came with three motorcycles. One of the motorcycles has been recovered, with the bus,” Mr. Omoni said.
“We understand that they (the passengers) were taken into one of the bushes around. We are combing the bushes.
“We have found cuts on the body of the vehicles, suggesting that they may have attacked the bus before forcing the driver to stop.”
