Six killed in Abuja crash
Abuja (FCT), Headlines, State News Wednesday, January 9th, 2013Six persons were confirmed dead and four injured in an auto crash on the Lokoja-Abuja Expressway on Tuesday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Federal Road Safety Corps Sector Commander in Kogi State, Mr. Garba Mohammed, said in Lokoja the accident occurred in Karara village at 11.10am.
He said the crash involved a Toyota Corolla with number plate Lagos GGE 204 EKY and a Toyota Hiace marked Lagos FKJ 634 XB.
Mohammed said 10 people were involved in the accident, adding that four were seriously wounded and rushed to Specialist Hospital, Lokoja for treatment. The FRSC chief said the corpses of the dead, comprising two men and four women, were deposited at the hospital.
He blamed the accident on overspeeding on the part of the two drivers. He advised motorists plying the road to always adhere to traffic rules and regulations. NAN recalls that a woman was killed in an accident on the road on Monday, with five others seriously injured.
