MEN of the Nigeria Army 23 Armoured Brigade at the weekend in Adamawa State intercepted a pastor with the Deeper Life Church, a police corporal and three others including a middle aged woman with five rifles, nine pairs of police uniforms and 12 pairs of police shoes.

Briefing journalists at Brigade Headquarters in Yola, Public Relations Officer, Lt. Victor Olukoya, said the woman was arrested in Numan at a military checkpoint with five rifles concealed in a bag of cassava flour on her way to deliver the guns to the pastor.

He said that the woman confessed that she was making her second trip to supply arms to the pastor.

“She told the investigating team that she was introduced to arms sale by one Agatha, and that one Danjuma Luka, now in police custody, was the supplier.”

Olukoya disclosed that soldiers closed in on the pastor after several phone calls to the woman as he waited for her arrival.

The police corporal and his cohorts, he disclosed, were arrested along Mubi–Yola road with nine pairs of police uniforms and 12 pairs of shoes.

The spokesman said the corporal, Joel Reuben, was serving at Base 4 anti-terrorists squad in Aba, Abia State and was heading towards Hong local government with his gang.

“Investigation revealed that the police corporal left his duty post without a pass to authorise his movement. This shows that he was on an unholy assignment,” Olukoya said.

He said that the suspects would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
