SSS, Army Arrest Six Over DPO’s Murder
Armed Forces, Latest Politics Saturday, March 24th, 2012SIX people have been arrested in Bauchi State in connection with the murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafawa Balewa Council, Mr. Adeleke, who was killed in his hotel room in Tafawa Balewa town following an attack by gunmen in January.
An army lance corporal and eight civilians were also killed in the attack.
A source told The Guardian that the suspects were arrested in Toro Council of the state by officials of the State Security Service (SSS), with military backup.
The source said the suspects were arrested at about 2am on Thursday following a tip off.
It was learn that problem started when one of them was found with the mobile phone of the late DPO, believed to have been stolen from the deceased after the attack.
According to the source, one of the suspects used the DPO’s mobile phone to call an aide to the former Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, as a result of which men of SSS commenced an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspects in an apartment in Toro.
When contacted, the state Director of the SSS declined to speak on the issue, saying investigation was still going on.
