SSS Confiscates Sanusi’s Travelling Documents At Lagos Airport

Following his suspension, officials of the State Security Service (SSS) on Thursday seized the travelling documents of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at the Execute Terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.

Mallam Sanusi’s document was seized when he arrived Lagos from Niger Republic, where he had gone to attend a meeting of governors of central banks in the West African sub-region.

He was accosted by plain clothe operatives of SSS who detained him briefly and insisted that he must surrender his passport to them and also insisted that he would not be allowed to leave the airport until the Lagos state director of the SSS arrives.

However, the former CBN Governor was later allowed to leave but his passport was confiscated after the SSS officials communicated with their superior.

The CBN Governor who was aware of his suspension changed his travel plan and instead of landing in Abuja airport, he landed at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Upon arrival in Lagos, Mallam Sanusi’s associates and friends, led by a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir El-Rufai, were on ground to receive him at the airport.

They drove out of the airport in a convoy heading towards Ikoyi. A member of the delegation said Mr. Sanusi was heading to a friend’s place.wp_posts
