Suswam will show certificate soon —Speaker (Let us all see it)
Benue, Headlines, State News Wednesday, November 30th, 2011Despite the dust being raised by the opposition over the certificate of Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State, his classmate, who is the speaker of the state assembly, Honourable David Iorhemba, said that the issue of certificate would soon be a thing of the past, as the governor would soon show his certificate.
The governor’s certificate has been a subject of dispute orchestrated by the opposition parties in the state, with the governorship candidates of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and the All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), Professor Steve Ugba and Professor Daniel Saror, respectively, contesting the issue at the election petition tribunal.
The speaker, who was reacting to the decision of the Supreme Court on Monday over the ANPP governorship candidate’s case, said that the governor was unperturbed with the ruling of the apex court, saying that it was the responsibility of the petitioner to produce the certificate of the governor.
He said: “We classmates of the governor recently showed the media the result of our classmate who is the governor of this state and when the time comes, we will let them see the result but since the opposition are feeding fat on the issue, we will allow them to bring out the result of the governor since the onus lies with them to prove their case and show the court the original certificate of the governor.
“It is a clear indication that the governor won his election and he has been sworn in; they should allow him to face the act of governance and wait till 2015,” the speaker said.
Iorhemba, who lauded the development strides of the governo, lamented that the opposition were only trying to distract the attention of the governor, having realised his performance in the last four years which he said surpassed eight years of his predecessor.
